Collection: Australia. One continent, two destinies.
A Brandhoek Diptych
Australia tells two stories at once – and both come from the same earth.
The kangaroo symbolizes abundance, adaptation, and survival. It finds food and space even in changing landscapes. Its leaping power has become a symbol of a continent that has learned to live with drought, fire, and vastness.
The koala, on the other hand, embodies vulnerability. Its existence depends on the leaves of a few eucalyptus species, trees that are becoming increasingly rare. Fires, deforestation, and disease have rendered it a silent survivor—almost invisible while its neighbors live in abundance.
This diptych does not exhibit opposites, it reveals them.
It shows how differently nature reacts to the same change – how one grows while another disappears.
It is small differences that make the difference: one more habitat, one degree less heat, one tree that remains standing.
And perhaps this juxtaposition reminds us that balance is not a state, but a responsibility.
