Collection: Thank you Brandhoek

An edition for the silent ones.

This edition is dedicated to the beings that are rarely seen.
Butterflies, moths, and nocturnal insects are among the smallest players in our ecosystems – and at the same time, among the most vulnerable. They live in the background, work in secret, and often disappear without being noticed.

“Thank you Brandhoek” is a collection of artistic works that gives these animals a space.
A space they find less and less often in the real world.

In this edition, moths and butterflies are not presented from a natural history perspective, but rather reinterpreted:
Enlarged, isolated, removed from their context and placed in a human environment. Not to humanize them – but to make them visible.

The animals appear not as decoration, but as a presence.
Quiet. Observant. Independent.

The title of the edition is intended as a subtle reversal of perspective.
It is not humans who thank nature –
but the animals seem to be saying:

Thank you for seeing me.
Thank you for giving me space.
Thank you for allowing me to exist here.

Every work in this edition is part of the Brandhoek Protect world.
It draws attention to species that are particularly affected by global species extinction because they are small, inconspicuous, or taken for granted. Butterflies and moths are extremely sensitive to light pollution, pesticides, and the loss of near-natural habitats. Their disappearance is quiet – but consequential.

“Thank you Brandhoek” is not nostalgic nature romanticism.
It is an invitation to attention.

The works in this edition have been staged worldwide – in spaces otherwise reserved for humans. Where architecture, design, and art dominate, these animals are given a place. Not as a symbol. Not as a warning. But as a quiet reminder that protection begins with awareness.
